Everyone needs a family adventure, really. Go Karts are just a bonus!
Technology is so advanced these day, a lot of families are isolated and seem to be stuck in the house staring at devices. Something we have noticed is that people want to have fun, but genuinely don’t know how. People have gotten used to staying in their own room, watching TV, scrolling social media, and having online friends. All of those things are fine in moderation, but we need to get outdoors and get back to fun, together!
Get outside and do something Together!
Incorporate Riding go karts into different outdoor activities. Go karts are very complimentary to a camping trip, a picnic day out on the trials, enjoying acreage out in the sun, and even getting some work done on the farm. Trailmaster has a wide range of models and sizes to make sure that the whole family can join the fun.
If you have littles that aren’t quite ready to drive their own machine, get creative. We have successfully and safely installed a car seat into a go kart and enjoyed an all day adventure on the trails. The kids had a blast getting to ride with the wind blowing in their hair and their goggles made them feel like racer drivers- some pretended to be astronauts!
When the trails got too rough, we found an open field with some mud puddles to ride in. Talk about fun! The kids didn’t quite realize what happens when you plow through a puddle in a vehicle, so they got a huge surprise when the freezing water splashed over the top of their go kart! The grown ups can enjoy their own go kart too, and mini bikes can handle almost anything that a go kart can.
Try something new and adventurous
At the end of the day, there are so many creative ideas that are cheap or free to get outside and start a new adventure, but of course we are focusing on family fun with go karts. In our own adventures, we have done many different day and overnight trips with our karts and have plenty planned for the future. Find a national park to ride in- check the rules first. Conveniently, many of them will have listing on their website that detail ORV (Off-Road Vehicle) trails, ATV trails, Motorized Vehicles trails, etc. As a substitute for public land, find a friend with some acreage that will let you ride in the corn fields after harvest.
Simply put, find a public place to ride in the hills, mountains, or national parks. Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri is a fantastic area to take go karts for a weekend full of excitement. For one thing, you will be within an hour of beautiful lakes with tubing, boating, swimming and plenty of summer activities; there are multiple off road parks designed for side by sides that have easy trails and fields to ride in; the Ozarks are a beautiful area to go camping or plan a picnic, or even go hiking. Plus, all of those things can involve go karts to some extent.
Just get out and do something!
But don’t strees- you don’t have to plan an elaborate trip with a trailer load of go karts. Go for a walk, find a free bike to restore together, plan a picnic and take everyone to a local park to sit on a blanket and snack together. Or if you’re ready for your next adventure, get a family go kart and plan some epic family memories. Undoubtedly, we could all use some fresh air, family fun and an epic adventure, even if it requires some effort.
Our 5 best Tips for an Epic Family Adventure
- Pick a place to go. Decide if you’ll stay local or go out of town. Some of our favorite place to take the kids are: LOTO Offroad Park, Houston Valley, The SD Badlands.
- Decide on an activity! It can be a simple picnic, a scavenger hunt, a drive to see the historical homes in a small town, a trip to the movies. Take your kids down memory lane and show them all your old haunts.
- Be intentional about all the little extras. Pack snacks, plan fun car ride games, plan ahead to do something “spontaneous” so your kids think you’re fun!
- Take pictures! You won’t regret having those family memories to look back on. Extend the fun when you get back home and make a scrap book about your trip.
- You should prepare for anything! First aid kits, extra go kart parts, an emergency kit for the car, sunscreen, bug spray. Think of all the disasters that can happen with kids and try to avert some of the chaos. We pack extra tires, chains, belts and basic tools any time we take the karts out to ride. There will always be a cooler of ice cold water and individually packed snacks for when everyone gets grumpy.
