Which Trailmaster Mini Go Kart do you have?

First off, the easy part: no matter which model you have, all Trailmaster mini go kart take the same upper chain.Whether you have a Mini XRS, a Mini XRX, or a Mini XRX-R, the upper chain will always be the same. Even on the plus models. The upper chain is the one toward the front of the go kart that runs around the clutch and the jackshaft (or gearbox). Therefore, you can determine that the lower chain must be the one closers to the rear of the kart and runs around the axle sprocket. The big difference between each model go kart is in the lower chain!
The Upper Chain on your Mini
Now, to make things simple, all Trailmaster mini go karts require the same upper chain. It won’t matter whether you have a 10 tooth or 12 tooth clutch, or even if your kart has reverse or not. The upper chain will always be the 420 gauge chain. You can find it listed for a Mini XRS, a Mini XRX, a Mini XRX-R in both standard and plus models.
Reverse, or non-reverse, that is the question
Even though this may seem confusing, there is a very simple way to differentiate between all of the different chains. If your kart has reverse, you’ll need the bigger, longer chain. The reverse models take a 420 gauge chainthat is just a few links shorter than then upper chain. You can find that chain here, wether you have a standard model with 13″ rear tires or a plus model with 16″ rear tires.
don’t be fooled by other parts stores, get the correct chain
If you have a non-reverse models, whether the standard version or the plus (+) version, you’ll need the smaller lower chain. You’ll see this chain all over the internet advertised as a 10mm, but that’s not completely accurate.
The Trailmaster Mini go karts without reverse actually take a British chain that converts to roughly 9.5mm. This may seem too close to make a difference, but the point is…a 10mm just isn’t the factory original. That .5mm difference running full speed around your clutch and sprocket creates additional wear and tear that is unnecessary. And chains aren’t cheap- so make sure you get your money’s worth by getting the right chain!
Buy Trailmaster parts from a reputable source
Hint: it’s usually not amazon. Unfortunately, anyone with access to Trailmaster parts can list them for sale on amazon. These sellers are looking to make quick money but rarely have the knowledge and expertise required to differentiate between models. Amazon may have speedy delivery, but you’ll end up with the wrong parts, fast. Who needs quick service if the parts are always wrong?
To purchase the correct factory lower chain for your mini go kart (without reverse), you can trust that GoKartMasters.com has accurate listing and correct chains. You won’t just receive something similar and say “close enough!”. They actually do their research, source the correct parts and provide what you need without skimping.Â
